Community Safety Unit

The Community Safety Unit is a multi-agency team, co-located within Southend Central Police Station. The team has a range of duties and works with many partners to ensure we are tackling the Community Safety Partnerships aims and objectives.

An annual Strategic Intelligence Assessment (SIA) is undertaken by the Community Safety Partnership. This identifies local crime priorities and recommends key areas for the Community Safety Partnership to address

The current priorities of the Community Safety Partnership are;

  • Managing exceptional crime trends based on crime type with specific focus on violent crimes.
  • Increasing number of people in drug treatment
  • Child sexual exploitation
  • Missing children and youth offending
  • Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour
  • Problem-solving approaches (in partnership) for high crime areas
  • Targeting risky people – inc. Urban Street Gangs, DV Perpetrators, CSE Perpetrators and burglary offenders
